Parkinson's Therapies

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement and mobility. At our clinic, we offer a range of therapies aimed at alleviating the symptoms of Parkinson’s and improving the quality of life for those living with the condition.

Our team of healthcare professionals work together to create personalized treatment plans that may include physical therapy to improve mobility and coordination, speech therapy to address communication difficulties, and occupational therapy to help with daily living activities.

Additionally, we offer innovative therapies such as exercise-based programs to maximize function and independence.

Our goal is to help our patients live life to the fullest and manage the challenges of Parkinson’s disease with the support of our experienced and compassionate team

Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)

The LSVT program is designed to increase vocal intensity in patients with Parkinson’s Disease. The treatment focuses on a simple set of tasks that are practiced intensively: four sessions per week during a four-week period. The results are maximization of phontaory and respiratory functions.

Lee Silverman Voice Treatment BIG (LSVT – BIG)

LSVT BIG is another individualized therapeutic approach to help people recalibrate their movements to produce bigger motions. Specific needs and individual goals are crafted to help with balance, getting up and down, dressing and job-related tasks.

PWR! Moves

PWR! moves is a PD-specific skill training program to maintain or restore skills to support everyday movements.

The goal behind PWR! Moves is to help people with PD remain active and independent for longer. There are four PWR!Moves known as the BASIC4 that target four skills that often interfere with mobility.

The four skills are:
1. antigravity extension
2. weight shifting
3. axial mobility
4. transitional movements

Exercise can help you manage different symptoms of PD and gain confidence and control. The types of exercise are different for each patient, but boxing is the core area of focus for Rock Steady Boxing. Please visit our page dedicated to explaining the details of the program.
