Pilates is a disciplined physical system with a series of precise, controlled movements it targets all muscle groups. While there are endless adaptations of Pilates currently offered at studios and gyms, Classical or Authentic Pilates is considered to be the practice in its truest, most effective form since it incorporates all elements of movement. Thatās not to say that other versions should be dismissed ā far from it ā but if youāre looking for authenticity, this might be where you want to start.

Our approach
In the original Authentic-Classical Pilates method thereās a sequence to the work, which was designed to move the body through a full range of movement. The sequence builds intelligently with foundational exercises at the beginning and more complex exercises as you gain strength and control.

Why It Matters
At MindBody the instructors focus on the entire body, mind and working all the components that makes it so powerful. The transitions between exercises are exercises in themselves and itās important to keep the work one seamless, continuous flow. What If I've Never Done Pilates Before?
We’re strong believers in establishing good practices for the fundamentals.Ā That’s why we start all new clients off with a four-course fundamentals packet. This packet teaches you about the core and powerhouse and how this works with the Joseph Pilates Authentic Classes taught at MindBody PT.Ā We take the time to have you tell us what works and what may be more difficult or cause pain. And we work with you on these areas so that you’re fully comfortable with the approach. Our goal: is to set you up for a way to accomplish lifelong fitness and wellness. And whether you stay with us or take your practice to other locations, we want to set you up for a lifetime of success.Ā

When do you start using the equipment?
We use the equipment starting in lesson five. Our Gratz equipment in our studio is unparalleled among Authentic Pilates loyalists. Our next step will most likely be the reformer. We also have specific classes with the tower.Ā
